Katy is a Mental Health Occupational Therapist who has over 20 years’ experience working in mental health with both children and adults, specialising in addiction, personality disorders and eating disorders.  You will find Katy at The Base on Wednesdays and Saturdays, however she also works at the eating disorders day program and the Centre for Psychotherapy where she provides group and individual therapy for clients with eating disorders and borderline personality disorder.

Katy is registered with Medicare and can see clients under a Mental Health Care Plan or an Eating Disorders Plan. She loves using sensory integration as well as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which are both enhanced and specialised for treatment for eating disorders.

Katy is interested in the impact that mental health difficulties have on an individuals’ day to day activities, and finds passion in focusing on the things people do and the impact this has on their health and wellbeing. She regularly incorporates activities of daily living into therapeutic sessions and may be seen eating, walking, reading bus timetables or putting together a morning playlist as part of her therapeutic interventions.

I believe 100% that mental health is everybody’s business.

Katy believes believes everyone involved in The Base community benefits from connection and a sense of belonging, and loves how it combines evidence based practice with flexibility to meet people’s individual needs.

Outside of work you may find Katy looking after her many pets, spending time with her family, taking a mindful walk, eating sourdough bread or having a swim at the beach (but only when it’s hot!)
